When in doubt, wear purple

Every age should be celebrated but particularly the ones that end in zero, and especially the magnificent age of 60. And what better colour than purple - often linked to royalty, luxury and extravagance.

You know what they say “If you want to make a statement, wear purple”

If you want to make a statement, wear purple!

When your lovely Mum reaches the amazing 6-0, you need to celebrate in style. The brief was an elegant 3 tier celebration cake in shades of purple & lilac, champagne & gold for an intimate family dinner for her nearest and dearest.

One of the joys of ordering a 3 tier cake is that you get to choose your favourite 3 flavours. The family chose a 10” Salted Caramel, and 8” Vanilla & Raspberry Jam and a 6” Lemon & Blueberry cake. Something for everyone! Check out my Cake Menu for a full selection of flavours.

Always love a bird’s eye view!

For the design, I hand-cut sugar flowers in shades of Sugar Flair “Grape Violet”, “Deep Purple”, “Lavender” and “Honey Gold” with a touch of Colour Mill “Latte”. Decorative balls - in purple, lilac and gold - always give an elegant touch and elevate the design for a special occasion.

Bespoke topper by Pretty Flamingo Designs

Big shout out to Pretty Flamingo Designs - maker of cake toppers and wooden signs - who provided the gorgeous 60th topper. Take a look at their magical instagram page. I will definitely be ordering more cake goodies from them in the future.

Delivery was to the The Queen at Chester Hotel, right opposite Chester Railway Station, on a busy Saturday morning. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful and what a lovely newly refurbished hotel just a 10 minute walk from the city centre. It’s always a great relief to have the cake safely installed ready for the evening dinner.

“Thanks so much for the cake! It was truly amazing from flavour to design and Mum loved it”

If you can’t resist the charm of my purplelicious cake, head over to our Cake Gallery for some more ideas for your next family celebration.

That’s all for now.
