The Perfect Lavender Wedding

Is there anything more summery than a buttercream wedding cake topped with fresh flowers? I’ll wait.

C & J contacted me last year to book their July wedding cake and the brief was “A Simple White Cake with Lavender decorations for 70 guests”. They’d booked a lovely family owned hotel in the countryside near Criccieth - The Bron Eifion Country Hotel - and it didn’t disappoint.

Rain, rain, go away …

Despite it being mid July, the weather had other ideas. We drove the 90 minutes from Llandudno into the darkest clouds and finally arrived in Criccieth to torrential, unrelenting rain. The day before and the day after were beautiful sunshine - but the wedding day, and coincidentally Mr Bond’s birthday, was about as wet as you can imagine. We jostled with the other wedding suppliers for the nearest parking spot to the front door, balanced the umbrella over the cakes and managed to get the goods safely indoors.

Inside the cosy hotel, the set up was stunning - a vision of lavender not seen since we last visited the lavender fields of Provence. The wedding cake was given pride of place in the entrance area in front of a large vintage mirror.

Perfect Summer Flavours

The Bride and Groom chose White Chocolate and Raspberry for their large tier, Lemon Curd for the middle and Lemon, Elderflower and Blueberry for the top tier. A trio of delightful summer flavours from my cake menu.

Lavender Blooms

Fresh flowers for the bouquets, hair pieces and wedding cake were supplied by Dawn from the The Very Nice Flower Company, who was a joy to work with and provided exactly what we needed for the cake. Simple, pretty and gorgeous.

Stunning images were taken by talented North Wales photographers Amy and Omid Photography who provided the quickest editing turnaround time I’ve ever seen. If you’re planning a wedding you should definitely look them up.
